The Story Behind Optophobia Creations
I was doing photography as a side hustle while living the corporate lifestyle, the same routines day in and day out, until two strokes changed everything. The experience affected my vision and balance, and in that moment I knew I wanted to create something more meaningful. That experience became the foundation of Optophobia Creations, named after optophobia, the fear of opening one's eyes.
I’m BJ Day, photographer, creator, and curator based in Dahlonega, GA. With 20+ years across government service, and corporate America, I’ve spent my career trained to see what others overlook. That same eye for detail now drives everything I do at Optophobia Creations, from uncovering hidden treasures from various locations across the land, to capturing intimate and powerful boudoir portraits, to designing apparel rooted in the macabre and folklore.
The Shop: Every storage unit, estate sale or antique store tells a story. I source, evaluate, and curate forgotten treasures and give them new life through reselling across multiple platforms.
Boudoir & Photography: Since 2008 I’ve specialized in boudoir and landscape photography, finding beauty in the intimate, the dramatic, and the unexplained.
The Emporium: Original Optophobia Creations apparel and prints. Wearable art and decor for those who embrace the mysterious.
The Scriptorium: An open journal where every story, discovery, and image finds its voice. From folklore and cryptids to the grind of entrepreneurship and the art of reselling, The Scriptorium is where curiosity meets the written word.
Open your eyes without fear. Every find, every frame, and every design carries a piece of that journey and I invite you to be a part of where it goes next.
