In the Beginning
Have you ever stopped to truly see the world around you? Not just with your eyes, but with emotion and perspective? That is what Optophobia Creations is all about. But this journey goes far beyond photography now, and I want to take a moment to share where it all started, where it has taken me, and where it is going.
The Meaning Behind Optophobia Creations
The name Optophobia Creations might sound unusual at first. If you have never heard of optophobia, it means the fear of opening one's eyes. To me it represents something deeply personal. I was living the corporate lifestyle, going through the same routines day in and day out, doing photography as a side hustle, when two strokes changed everything. The experience affected my vision and my balance and in that moment I knew I wanted to create something more meaningful. Something that reflected a deeper appreciation for seeing the world around us. Optophobia Creations was born from that experience, built on the belief that we should never fear opening our eyes to the extraordinary that surrounds us every single day.
My Journey into Photography
Like many photographers my journey started with a simple love for capturing the world around me. Whether it was landscapes, portraits, or intimate boudoir sessions, I found that photography allowed me to tell stories in ways that words could not. Over time I honed my skills, experimented, and discovered my passion for both natural and studio lighting, each offering a unique way to shape the mood of an image. Since 2008 I have dedicated myself to this craft, specializing in boudoir and landscape photography, finding beauty in the intimate, the dramatic, and the unexplained.
But photography is not just about technique. It is about connection. Whether it is the quiet solitude of a breathtaking landscape or the raw confidence of a boudoir session, I strive to make every image evoke something personal for the viewer.
Beyond the Lens
What started as a photography brand has grown into something far greater. Today Optophobia Creations operates across three channels, each rooted in the same philosophy of finding the extraordinary in the ordinary.
As a reseller I source and curate forgotten treasures from storage unit auctions, estate sales, and various finds across the land, giving them new life and new homes. With 20+ years across government service and corporate America I was trained to see what others overlook, and that same eye for detail now drives everything I do in the reselling world.
The Emporium is our apparel and print line, wearable art rooted in the macabre and folklore. Designs that tell a story and make a statement. Original pieces for those who embrace the mysterious.
And now The Scriptorium, this very blog, where every story, discovery, and image finds its voice. Here you will find dispatches from all corners of the Optophobia Creations world.
What You Can Expect
Through The Scriptorium I want to share not only my work but the inspiration behind it. Expect behind the scenes stories from boudoir sessions and landscape adventures. Expect tales of extraordinary finds from storage unit auctions across the land. Expect folklore, cryptids, legends, and the sacred mysteries that history tried to bury.
